The Wind Symphony
The Howard University Wind Symphony is comprised of talented music majors and university students who enjoy performing repertoire from a variety of styles and historical periods. The recent concert at the 2017 Historically Black Colleges and University – National Band Directors Consortium marked the third performance for the convention.
Prior appearances took place at the inaugural conference in 2005 and then again in 2010. Other national conferences engagements include performances at the National Association for the Study and performance of African-American Music in 1997 and 2000;and performances for the Maryland Chapter of the National Band Association in 2013 and 2016.
The ensemble performed at the Annual Convention of the National Association of Negro Musicians in Washington, DC in 2016. Additional concerts have taken place in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Memphis, Baltimore, Richmond, Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, Atlanta and Windsor Ontario, Canada.
